Above this guide
We help people plan respectful, self-sufficient trips to Cape Range National Park on Western Australia’s North West Cape. Four facts that would be false on the Blue Mountains or Wilsons Promontory: (1) official walk guidance commonly limits gorge walking to about April–September because summer can exceed 45 °C; (2) there is no fuel inside the park and typical coastal camps have no drinking water; (3) Charles Knife Canyon is commonly park-entry-fee exempt while the coastal corridor is not; (4) dogs are not allowed in this national park (Western Shield 1080 baiting) — this is not a Prom Tidal River booking problem or a Katoomba cliff-platform day.
Cultural respect
We acknowledge the Baiyungu, Thalanyji and Yinigurdira people as Traditional Custodians of this Country. This guide does not invent cultural detail or retell restricted sacred stories. For anything beyond a basic acknowledgement, use official and Traditional Owner sources.
Always re-check rules, fees and conditions on the official Explore Parks WA Cape Range page.
Who publishes this site
Ian Piggott (Publisher & guide editor) via Farming Domains (ABN 66 786 225 704). ianpiggott.com · farmingdomains.com
We synthesise publicly available park facts from Explore Parks WA / DBCA, cross-check Exmouth and North West Cape logistics, snorkel-site and gorge walk planning against official guidance, then write practical decision frameworks visitors can act on. We do not invent live track status, guaranteed open/closed claims, tide tables, or official fee tables as permanent facts.
Help people plan Cape Range / Ningaloo Coast days and short stays safely and honestly — heat windows, snorkel realism, Yardie and Mandu decisions, coastal camping self-sufficiency — while funding free guides through clearly disclosed ads and affiliates. Park entry fees and Park Stay WA bookings are never affiliated.
Independence
Not affiliated with the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA), Parks and Wildlife Service, the Western Australian Government, Park Stay WA, Baiyungu / Thalanyji / Yinigurdira Traditional Custodians, or any commercial accommodation or tour operator unless explicitly stated. We do not publish a public contact email — see Contact for expectations and official links only.
National Parks Guide Australia network
This is one deep park guide (Cape Range) in the National Parks Guide Australia network of independent visitor guides. The visitor-facing hub is National Parks Guide Australia — browse the full directory and “best for” collections. The publisher remains Farming Domains; the hub is how travellers find other parks.
Browse all parks → nationalparksguide.com.au
Cape Range sits on hub collections for the Ningaloo Coast World Heritage Area and trips that are not a capital day outing — Exmouth overnight, not a same-day Perth lookout loop, and not a 4WD-only coastal strip.
